Sports Quantitative Analyst


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sports Quantitative Analyst to join our BI team at ARRISE powering Pragmatic Play. This is an opportunity for the candidate to become a key and integral member of a newly created Sportsbook quants team optimizing processes and driving efficiencies through all standard sportsbook practices including margin control, development of sports betting solutions, development of statistical and predictive pricing models, performance analysis and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics, statistics, and data science, coupled with a passion for sports. 
Data Analysis:  
  • Analyse large datasets related to various aspects of sports, such as player performance, team statistics, and game outcomes;
  • Extract and combined data sets from different data sources to enrich models and analyses;
  • Provide reports based on interpretation of data and analysis to drive decisions and recommendations.
Predictive Modelling:  
  • Build statistical and predictive models to forecast outcomes of games, player performance, and other relevant variables, considering various factors influencing sports events;
Algorithm Development:  
  • Design and implement algorithms to automate certain processes, improve decision-making, and enhance the efficiency of sports-related operations;
  • Build quantitative models and tools required for trading a wide range of sports, using the best possible techniques to enable continuous improvement of price accuracy and performance.
Risk Management: 
  • Evaluate external sources and assign weights based on historical pricing;
  • Assess and manage risks associated with different types of bets or market offerings, to optimize odds and pricing to ensure an acceptable risk profile for the business;
  • Recommend process improvements related to risk management concepts.
Performance Analytics:  
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of teams, players, and strategies through in-depth performance analytics. This information can be used to make data-driven decisions, optimize team strategies, and enhance overall product performance.
Market Research:  
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies., to adapt strategies and maintaining a competitive edge.
What You Will Need:  
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, in the sports industry or related fields;
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related;
  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as Python, SQL;
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of software development processes;
  • Proven experience with statistical modelling, data visualization techniques, machine learning, and implementation of predictive algorithms;
  • Experience in building mathematical models;
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities with strong attention to detail;
  • Understanding of the sports betting industry, trading, and sports modelling.
